Fiber Optical Mode Solver (FOMS) is a powerful and user friendly
computer aided simulation tool for design and analysis of optical
fibers and fiber devices for different applications. It has two
different versions: the standard version and the advanced version.
The standard version simulates common fiber characteristics such as
dispersion curves and optical field distribution. The advanced
version in addition calculates fiber properties such as cut off
wavelength, macro/micro bending losses and splicing loss. The
advanced version also provides the capability of parameter scanning
that is a convenient tool for fiber design task. The standard
version can meet the needs of those who do not perform too detailed
fiber design like many people who work on fiber grating devices.
The advanced version can help users to analysis and design a
variety of special optical fibers that require complex index
profiles and/or material dispersions.
