ALGOR, Inc., a leading maker of software for mechanical engineers, announced the release of V14, an all new version of its FEA software that features new flexible license management, enhanced midplane meshing, thermal contact support, a new spring element and over 45 additional changes based on customer feedback. ALGOR provides cost effective solutions for design, analysis and simulation and enables engineers to virtually test and predict real world behavior of new and existing product designs, speed up time to market and make better, safer products at a lower cost.
"V14 includes a large number of new, customer requested features and delivers significant enhancements across our wide range of design and analysis capabilities, said product manager Bob Williams. These capabilities enable engineers to take full advantage of cost effective, multi user or enterprise wide licensing options, quickly create FEA models of thin CAD parts and assemblies, simulate a wide range of contact scenarios and evaluate additional result types."
"ALGORs product development team has been aggressive in bringing new capabilities to their product line,” said Terry Bender of Applied Concepts. This customer driven product development strategy makes ALGOR software a great investment because I am confident that I have the latest in simulation technology."
"ALGOR’s enhanced midplane meshing will help me to work seamlessly with the Autodesk Inventor assemblies I design," said Suneet Talwar of SDP Engineering, Inc. "The capability to create midplane meshes of multiple part assemblies will enable me to quickly generate FEA models of thin CAD models."
ALGOR V14 features include:
FLEXlm license manager technology for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) support and concurrent use, upgrade and purchasing flexibility available for enterprise wide licensing; networked license sharing; and remote use and single, node locked licensing Alibre Design Basic 6.0 SP2 for parametric, feature based solid modeling with integrated tutorials, display of thumbnail images in the repository, support for 3Dconnexion devices, improved integration with Excel and improved display of helical features enhanced midplane meshing for reducing thin, solid features in a CAD model to plate/shell elements that automatically handles parts, assemblies, multi thickness regions and mixed element type models a new spring element for static stress with linear material models and linear dynamic analyses that includes realistic visualization in the Superview IV
Results environment
improved contact and friction for Mechanical Event Simulation (MES) including improved support for surface to surface contact for parts that initially touch plastic strain result plots for MES that provide visualization once a part has yielded and experienced permanent deformation thermal contact for steady state and transient heat transfer analyses that can be used to model the resistance from a thin layer such as a gasket or epoxy between parts improved multiphysics loading such as nodal voltages for structural models, surface voltages and surface temperatures NASTRAN support for critical buckling load analysis and spring elements a new look and format for HTML reports
