MIA TRANSFORMATION 3.5.1

The MIA Transformation architecture is based on the use of meta models.
It does not rely on data exchange formats, as does XSLT (
eXtensible Stylesheet Langage Transformation).
MIA Transformation works at the semantic level rather than at
the syntactic one.

A transformation process is made of three steps:
Load the source models
Transform the source models into target models
Store the target models

The loading and storing steps are not involved in the transformation
process.
The rules expressing the transformation itself are independent
from the import/export file formats.

By default, MIA Transformation is supplied with readers and writers
for XMI,the standard file exchange format defined by the OMG, and
the UML 1.3 and 1.4 metamodels.


Mia Transformation performs transformations from source models into
target models, regardless the input and output formats (XMI, other file
format, API,repository).

Transformations are expressed using inference rules, which may be
enriched using Java scripts for additional services such as string
handling.
